Made in 1954, this instrument is an exquisite example of the first wave of Jacob Hornsteiner cellos produced by the Roth firm for export to the United States after their post war re-establishment in Bubenruth, April of 1953; markedly superior in material and craftsmanship to models starting the following year which soon after became a staple for American school systems nationwide: formerly belonging to a university professor.
