This seductive 1950s black silk satin cocktail dress is of superb quality and construction. It is a stunning example of an evening dress from this decade and features a sweetheart neckline in soft black netting with a nude satin underlay and lace ruffle embellishment over the bust, creating a sensuous peekaboo effect. There are spaghetti straps, princess seams along the bodice and a slightly dropped, curved waistline atop of a classic '50s full skirt which creates a beautiful hourglass shape. There is boning around the bodice for extra support, which really emphasises the nipped-in waist silhouette that was so aspirational during this era. It fastens with a hidden tonal central zip fastening at the reverse. The piece is unlabelled although we believe it to be made in the US. 

This piece is in very good vintage condition. Please note there is a slight bit of pulling around the rear zip (please see photograph). Due to its age, there is no composition or size label so please check the measurements below carefully. We believe it would best suit US size 4, UK size 8. The fabric has no stretch. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 33" (84cm), Waist 26" (66cm), Hips: 34" (86cm) and 5' 7" (170cm) and she's a size UK 6-8, US 2-4. This dress was a great fit on her.
