Blooming Through the Night is an original mixed media artwork from my Blooming Veil collection, created as my entry for the Endometriosis Art Competition.
The painting features a crouched woman folded into herself, surrounded by deep purple blooms and scattered gold. Her eyes are covered by night flowers, a symbol of pain, endurance and the parts of our lives that often bloom unseen.
This work responds to the experience of women’s pain being minimised, normalised or left unnamed. It speaks to the quiet pressure to keep functioning, to cope beautifully, and to be praised for resilience when what is really needed is care.
The Queen of the Night-inspired blooms across her eyes represent something fierce and private. They open in darkness, not for attention, but for survival. In this piece, the figure is still, but not passive. She is tired, guarded and quietly defiant.
Muted purples, silvery greys and soft skin tones create a sense of concealment and tenderness, while gold-toned foil catches the light as a small act of rebellion. It is a painting about pain, but also about release, softness and the refusal to disappear.
This piece is suited to collectors who are drawn to emotional figurative work, layered symbolism and artworks that hold both beauty and weight.
