An early Fowler chart recording the results of an examination of Joseph Shore given by L.N. Fowler and W.R. Strachan in New Bedford, Aug 16th [’42]. Modest but even soil to covers, mild foxing, nicks around the edges, a Good copy. 

The book was mass-produced and could be purchased in bulk by any budding phrenologist, but this copy records a reading given by the eminent L. N. Fowler along with William R. Strachan. Strachan is identified as a “pupil and partner of L. N. Fowler” in The American phrenological journal and miscellany (1843). He co-published a highly pictorial version of the phrenology bust diagram titled, The Symbolical head, illustrating all the phrenological developements of the human head.
