Description:

The first CD release of Yasunshi Akutagawa's fantastic compositions! A beautiful and warm symphony written for children! 2009 was the year of the 20th anniversary of the death of Y.Akutagawa, and many concerts featured his music. The most notable of these concerts was the Nipponica concert that performed "Twin Stars" (premiered in 1957), which was the first performance on this stage. Based on a work by Kenji Miyazawa, the music was composed by Yasunushi Akutagawa. It was written for Bunka Hoso and broadcast with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Akio Watanabe and Meiko Nakamura (narrator). The story is told by children's chorus and narration, and "Hoshi-Meguri no Uta" composed by Kenji Miyazawa appears throughout the piece. The piece is beautiful and full of fantasy, and is filled with the talented technique of Yasuyuki Akutagawa. It is a wonder that it has not been performed before. This piece fills the gap between "Symphony No. 1" (1954) and "Elora Symphony" (1958), which was also a turning point in Akutagawa's musical career, and is therefore an important piece for him. Also included are two of his most famous film titles, "The Village of Eight Tombs" and "Mount Hakkouda," making this an extremely valuable memorial album for Yasunshi Akutagawa. Octavia Records
